It was youth versus experience in the final of the Leyland and District Bowling League President's Day recently.
The final itself pitted the competition's youngest and oldest bowlers, with 17-year-old Wayne Ditchfield defeating 67-year-old Bernard Marrow, to become the youngest ever winner.

Wayne, who bowls for New Longton A, was presented with the trophy by league president John Gillooly at Fox Lane Sports Club, Leyland.

He added the President's Day trophy to the North Lancashire and Fylde County Senior Merit trophy he won earlier this season.

The talented teenager beat Dennis Hunter of Empire Services A in the quarter finals 21-15, John Coupe of Hoghton A 21-8 in the semi-final, before seeing off veteran Bernard Marrow of Hind's Head A by 21-8.
