A 10-year-old South Ribble Tennis Club star faces a tough summer as he bids for national ranking points in tournaments.
Ross Watson has just finished competing for Lancashire at the National U10 Championships and helped his county to fifth place overall at the end of June.

The pupil from Trinity and St Michael's Primary School in Croston continues to carve out a name for himself in national tennis circles but is now aiming to rise up the ranking in the U12 age group.

Proud dad Dave Watson said: "It is going to be a challenge for him as he will be competing against players two years older than him.

"He is used to being in the top 30 players in his age group but he will have to work hard to get ranking points to prove his potential.

"It will also be difficult as he has to travel to international tournaments which cost a lot of money and we are going to have to try to help him go.

"He has a great talent and we want him to see out his potential but we would like any support we could get from local businesses."

Ross proved his potential on the big stage in Yorkshire at the regional event when he helped Lancashire to victory after winning all four of his singles games.

His next challenge is competing in the U12 category in Birmingham next week before travelling to Wales for a tournament in Swansea in August
