A talented Leyland runner is celebrating after being crowned a Lancashire champion.
Leyland St Mary's pupil Patrick Dever recently became Lancashire Schools Cross Country Champion in his year seven boys category.

The Preston Harriers runner joined the club in October 2008 after winning cross country competitions at St Anne's Primary School.

The 12-year-old enjoyed success in his last two years at the Slater Lane school where he developed a talent for distance running.

Proud mum Paula Dever said: "We are very proud of him and he really enjoys running.

"He also got selected for an eight-man under-13 boys side to run for Lancashire at McCain's UK Inter-Counties Cross County championships in Nottingham.

"It was a great experience for him as it was televised on Sky and he did well."
