Bamber Bridge FC boss Tony Greenwood has started a mass clear-out of his squad and intends to start the season with a clean slate.
Eight players have been released from the QED Stadium club over the past few weeks while goalkeeper Andy Banks will not be retained as he is emigrating to Australia in August.

Among the high profile names leaving the club include Jamie Nay, Ryan Bowen, Matt Mahoney, Mike Mason, Allan Fleming, Mark Edmeads, Stuart Shepard and Graeme Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Greenwood. pictured, has moved quickly to retain the services of defenders Steve Williams and Colin McAllister, midfielder Steven Brown and also striker Sean O'Neil.

There still remains some uncertainty over star striker Alex Porter's future after the club offered him terms of which he has not yet agreed.
Elsewhere, defender Stuart Howson will be coming back for pre-season training in July to earn his place at the club.

Greenwood said: "I have spoken to some of the lads and they were released last week.
"I felt we need a clean sweep as some of the players have been here for some time so we need to bring in new faces.
"I have talked to two or three players about joining the club and they seem interested but I have been working since the season finished to bring in new lads.

"However, it is difficult as clubs such AFC Fylde who have joined our league will be coming in with a cheque book to buy players.
"I also think Lancaster will have a decent budget and they will be fighting with us for good quality players."

Greenwood admits his task will be made even more difficult considering the season has only finished.

He said: "There is no guarantees in this job that if I bring in 16 players that we will win the league.

"But, my busiest time will be in the last few weeks before the season starts as the bigger clubs will have released some players and they want regular football at the start of the season."
