Euxton Villa slumped to their second defeat in as many games when they lost on the road at top-of-the-table Wren Rovers.

The league leaders dominated the first half and defender Danny Walker found himself isolated in an aerial tussle and a Rovers striker and was tapped in from close range.

In first half stoppage time, Euxton grabbed an unlikely equaliser as Stuart Bingham's ball was nodded on by David Heald, and his strike partner George Craddock stole in behind to glance it past the advancing keeper.

In the second half Euxton's Ian Kirkpatrick was unlucky to see his shot go wide after a probing run.

Then Craddock had the ball in the net again in the 65th minute, but was called back after straying offside when the final pass was made.

Against the run of play, Wren Rovers were awarded a penalty despite claims by Martin Whewell that he got the ball. The home side dispatched the spot-kick with power to take the lead.

The visitors tried to push forward for an equaliser but were caught at the back by the Blackpool side and they ran out 3-1 winners.
