Chorley Minis team beat Clitheroe by two games to one.
The opening game pitted two very strong and experienced squads against each other and although the pitch was quite muddy and heavy in places saw some fine running rugby from both teams.

Alex Ostridge opened the scoring for Chorley in the first ga
me which turned out to be a try fest after running out 9-2 winners.

The try scoring continued with some fine running and support play from the entire team when Ben Gibbs galloped over in the corner.

Sebastian Wilson ended the games scoring a hat trick and further tries were scored by Scott Beaumont and Ross Beaumont.

Jonathan Smith crossed the line for the eighth try following some strong defence when the ball was turned over and he ran the length of the field to score.

Ostridge had started and ended the game with the final try for Chorley but Clitheroe never gave up and scored two well executed tries late on.

However Clitheroe levelled things up in the second game running out 5 – 8 runners up.

Tom Wolfenden captained and led his team well against the same squad that faced Chorley in the first game.

Clitheroe were passing the ball well and with continued pressure broke some very hardy Chorley defence.

The game seemed to be running away from Chorley and approaching half time they were already down 6 tries to 0.

However, a couple of power players were brought on and with the team strengthed by Hannah and Aimee Brook, Reece Pozzi ran a try after some fantastic inter passing and running from the entire team.

In the second half Chorley opened up the scoring and Reece Pozzi ran in his second try. Luke Norcros scored his first try for Chorley.

Tom Wolfenden scored a great captain's try and the game was slowly being clawed back. Then with Luke Norcross again making some big runs in the centre Andrew Webb went over in the corner to make the score 5 – 6 to Clitheroe.

Unfortunately two late tries by Clitheroe meant the game ended 5 – 8.

However, once again Chorley's development squad showed great promise for the future.

In the third and final game Chorley were comfortable 7 – 2 victors.

Clitheroe came out the stronger in this third game and forced Chorley to turnover which they then capitalised on and scored a great try in the corner.

Chorley came back strong and by half time were 3 -1 tries up with Sebastian Wilson, Timothy John and Jonathan Smith scoring the three tries in the first half.

With the coaches words ringing in their ears. Chorley came out even more determined and William Smith made some insightful breaks.

Chorley's defence was stronger as the game progressed and then Sebastian Wilson scored two more tries following turnovers giving him his second hat trick of the day.

Although the game was at this stage won, Chorley finished on a high when Scott Beaumont scored his second of the day and Alex Ostridge finished the match by bundling himself over the line to score his third of the day.

The man of the match award was given to Reece Pozzi.
