A group of youths in Leyland came within a whisker of being killed after being spotted playing football on a railway line.
The reckless teenagers narrowly avoided being struck by a high-speed train passing through Leyland along the West Coast Main Line.
The seven youths - who were all aged 14 and 15 - had disappeared by the time officers from British Transport Police arrived at the scene near Leyland Railway Station, but they've been accused of playing Russian roulette with their lives.
Police have now stepped up patrols and visited nearby schools to warn of the danger of playing on the line.
The incident took place last Sunday evening just after 6pm and a passenger on a train between Manchester to Blackpool north raised the alarm.
Leyland train station has no CCTV and the only description of the teens is that they are aged about 14 or 15.
