Police arrest three after knifepoint robbery bid

Police in Leyland are today questioning three 17-year-old youths following an attempted robbery at knifepoint in the town centre last night.
A police spokesman said: "At 9pm last night, we received a report that there had been attempted robbery at knifepoint close to Churchill Way, Leyland.

"The 19-year-old victim had been walking long Churchill Way when he was approached by three youths who demanded his wallet.

"But he ran to the Booze Brothers off licence nearby and reported the robbery there. They called the police.

"From the descriptions given, we identified three suspects and three people all aged 17 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and a knife has been recovered.

"All three suspects have been detained at Leyland police station for questioning."

The 19-year-old victim was unhurt.
