Desperate patients have been clamouring to fill places at Leyland's newest NHS dental surgery - weeks before it is due to open.
The Guardian revealed how ADP Dental Company Ltd has submitted plans to turn a derelict retail unit into a £250,000 dental practice providing vital services for up to 15,000 new patients across the area.
Within just two weeks of unveiling the plans, almost 3,000 people have already signed on at the practice, to the delight of the organisers.
Tim Ball, NW regional manager of ADP Dental, said: "We are very pleased with the response of patients that want to join and preparations are going extremely well. Refurbishment works are ahead of schedule and the practice looks due to open in approximately five weeks time, which is much earlier than our initial estimates.
"Once finished the practice will boast four brand new state-of-the-art dental suites offering the very highest standard of NHS dental care and we believe the local community will benefit very much from the facility."
