Parking still a problem

Aggressive parking restrictions on Worden Park car park aren't enough to curb Leyland's growing parking crisis, according to disgruntled residents.
In May, South Ribble Borough Council introduced tough restrictions limiting parking at the park to just three hours after complaints that Runshaw College pupils were taking up all the room.

However, residents in the area say the restrictions have done little to improve the situation and they are calling for motorists to be charged to park at the award-winning recreational area.

Joan Hudson, who lives close to the park on Langdale Road, believes council bosses should make visitors pay £1 to park in a bid to solve the problems.

She said: "The car park is as busy as ever, even with lots of the pupils on holiday. The pupils aren't the only problem - adults are just as bad.

"We are very lucky to have Worden Park right on our doorstep but all these motorists are being allowed to spoil it.

"People in other areas would gladly pay £3 - £4 to park at a park like this, so Worden Park shouldn't be any different."
