A pensioner's two-year protest outside South Ribble Borough Council has taken a tragic twist.
Gordon Wilkinson, 69, of Regency Avenue, Lostock Hall, has been holding a daily placard-waving protest outside the Civic Centre.

He's unhappy that two of his neighbours - South Ribble councillors Melvyn and Dorothy Gardener - are allowed to run a small wholesale enterprise and taxi business from their premises called M & D Travel.

Last week one of Mr Wilkinson's other neighbours, 76-year-old Fred Place, visited the council's offices in West Paddock to speak to leader Coun Margaret Smith about white lines outside his house.

He returned the next day, but became ill at the Civic Centre shortly after midday.

He regained consciousness but was taken to Chorley hospital and died on Saturday morning.
