Passers-by came to the rescue of a stricken motorcyclist who was in collision with a car in Leyland this afternoon (Friday).
The Honda CBR 600 rider was lying in the middle of the busy Leyland Way, outside the Leyland Hotel after the accident, which happened at the junction with Ryden Avenue around 3pm.

An off-duty nurse and a member of staff from the hotel helped give the man first aid, while a passer-by directed traffic around the scene.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital and the driver of the car was unhurt. Police sealed off the road, which is the main route to the motorway network, for 45 minutes while they investigated the incident.

The member of staff from the hotel said: "There was a nurse on the scene when I got there and I was just talking to the motorcyclist to keep him conscious.

"I don't think he was seriously injured, but he was led in the middle of the road and was shaken up."

A police spokesman confirmed Leyland Way was re-opened shortly before 4pm and that the motorcyclist was 'conscious and breathing' and had been taken to RPH with minor injuries.
