More than 60 former servicemen and women from across South Ribble came together in Leyland on Friday to mark the UK's third annual Veterans' Day.

The Mayor and Mayoress of South Ribble, Coun Barrie Yates and his wife Kathleen, welcomed veterans from all parts of South Ribble to a commemorative lunch at the Civic Centre to mark the occasion.

The Mayor said: "Veterans' Day is a day of great pride for the millions of UK veterans who have served with courage and honour, and it was a great pleasure to share this special day with lots of local veterans, and thank our ex-servicemen and women for their service to our country."
