A professional graffiti artist is joining forces with reformed offenders to curb the vandalism in a Leyland neighbourhood.
This week Moss Lane underpass has once again been daubed with graffiti, including the tags 'Scarzy', 'Wilsaby' and 'My Goo'.

The subway is a popular route used daily by local residents and parents walking their children underneath the motorway to nearby schools.

PCSO for the Farington area Mike Cobley said that a project had been agreed by the council and the police for the end of the month to bring in a professional artist to paint the problem underpass.

He said: "This project I have taken on will get a professional spray painter to come down with other people who have been in trouble before for vandalism.

"We have been searching youths in the area for spray paint and the message is that this is a crime no matter how big or small the writing is.

"It is not good for the residents and we want this project to be the end of the problem.

"It would be good for the youth of Farington to come and get involved when we start the work."
