Suspected arsonists are being hunted after fire ripped through a caravan near homes in Leyland.
Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the blaze that completely destroyed the holiday home, which was parked in front of a row of flats in Teal Close.

Ten fire fighters from Leyland and Bamber Bridge tackled the blaze at just after 1am on Sunday, after horrified witnesses called 999.

Although the fire was confined to the caravan, firefighters had to react fast to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses.

John Taylor, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said investigators believe the fire was started by arsonists.

He said: "Investigations are still ongoing but we are looking at the possibility that it was started deliberately.

"We are disgusted that things like this go on. This was a despicable act that put many lives in danger, including people who lived in the nearby homes.

"Due to the proximity of the caravan to the houses our firefighters had to work extremely fast and had to put their owns lives in danger to prevent the blaze from spreading. Thanks to their know-how and vast experience, nobody was injured and the fire did not spread.

"We deplore any act of arson and we urge anyone who might have seen something to come forward anonymously with their information."

Contact the Crimestoppers arson hotline on 0800 555111 or the police incident hotline on 08451 233545. All calls are free and anonymous.
