Luck ran out for Chorley poker player Jonathan Kalmar at this year's World Series event in Las Vegas.
The father-of-one, whose nickname is Skalie, made international headlines when he won $1.28m in last year's competition – and bought his mum a house.

The former IT manager hoped for similar success at last month's compeition but was knocked out early on.

Despite the disappointing result Jonathan remains upbeat.
He said: "The thing is, it is not just this one trip. There are many trips over the year – some are successful, some are not.

"There are about 7,000 people attending the tournament – you can't expect to win every time."

Jonathan is now gearing up for his next tournament in October, held in London, and is looking forward to his next trip to the States.

He said: "I will be back for another series in Las Vegas before the end of the year."
