Sweet taste of success
A Chorley businesswoman has come up with a new sugar coated way of celebrating the big moments in life.
Not content with sending flowers or chocolates, Khadine Rich, of Erskine Road, has combined both with the launch of a firm selling bespoke candy bouquets.
After watching her mother-in-law launch a similar company in the USA, the sweet-toothed entrepreneur decided to bring the idea across the pond by launching Sweet and Unique Candy Bouquets.
She said: "My mother-in-law started making candy bouquets back in 1998 and what started off as a small, part-time hobby turned into a blossoming business.
"Fast forward nine years and I was a stay-at-home mum with three children trying to decide if the cost of childcare is worth going back to work.
"I have always been a creative person and I believe that the UK market is desperately lacking in creativity, so I launched this company."
Based from the family home in Chorley, the company can make toffee filled bouquets for all occasions.
From Christmas to Valentine's Day to Mother's Day and Hallowe'en, there is something for everyone. Prices start from £20 and rise to £40 for a larger bouquets.
Husband and business partner Mike, who is originally from California but now works at Leyland Trucks, said: "Things are going really well, especially with Mother's Day and Valentine's day just gone.
"It is keeping us very busy but my wife loves it because she is a very creative person."
