Chorley-based Frederick's Ice Cream Limited had their rivals licked when they won the top accolade award at the National Ice Cream Alliance industry excellence awards.
The company, which has ice cream parlours in Chorley and Heath Charnock, won the Champion of Champions award for its dairy vanilla flavour; gold medals for their dairy and mint choc chip; and diplomas of merit in four other categories.

Frederick's
luxury ice cream flavours were entered into the national competition where they were taste-tested by a specialist panel of ice cream experts.

They were then scientifically tested for product and ingredient quality.

Donna Townson, partner at Frederick's Ice Cream, said: "This is an awesome achievement for Frederick's and our family. We have won many industry excellence awards over the past 20 or 30 years but never the Champion of Champions!

"We've always believed our ice cream is fantastic and these awards are industry recognition for the work we put into developing and producing our very popular luxury flavours.

Frederick's Ice Cream's newest ice cream parlour at Chill Factor ski village at Trafford Park, has 57 of Frederick's luxury ice cream flavours on sale, and is the largest display in the North West.

Donna said: "We produce more than 100 different flavours of luxury ice cream."

Frederick's supplies many restaurants, cafes, shops, other ice cream parlours and businesses across Lancashire and the North West with their ice cream.

They are pursuing a business plan which will open up new markets for the business and widen their current customer-base right across the North West.

Elizabeth Federici, managing director of Frederick's Ice Cream, said: "We have achieved phenomenal success over recent years - in product, service and business excellence.

"This is a very exciting time for us as we build on our hardwork and bring Frederick's to a wider audience."
