One of Chorley's best success stories is preparing to recruit a raft of new staff.
Tenon employs 170 people at its base in St Thomas's Road, Chorley, which has an annual turnover of £10m.

It is part of the Tenon group, which has 47 offices in the UK and a turnover of more than £150m.

Tenon is the country's ninth largest accountancy firm and the largest in Lancashire.

It was formed in 2000 and took over the old Lathams business. It is listed on the AIM market and offers advice to entrepreneurs, targeting firms with a turnover of between £2m and £30m.

Chorley-based Martin Kirby is the managing director of the Tenon's North West region and lives in Mawdesley.

He said: "We can see we'll need an extra 20-30 people by the end of 2009. We are expanding and we're looking to bring in new services."

Last year Tenon's Chorley offices recruited five staff from the accountancy department of Runshaw College and Mr Kirby said this reflected the company's ethos.
